Arctic & Antarctic

Utilizing state-of-the-art statistical and numerical methods and the optimum high-latitude datasets, we generate regional sea ice conditions for your logistical planning. Our forecasts of the Beaufort Sea ice area for the years 1948-2012 show considerable skill, even at lags of several months prior to the forecast period (left).

Forecasting & Support

Our custom Arctic visualizations of the Global Forecasting System weather prediction model provide logistical support for our near-real-time regional sea ice forecasts. Regional sea ice conditions are determined by melting and freezing air and surface ocean temperatures, and drifts around the northern seas in response to near-surface winds and ocean currents.
